Caramelized onion

Last week the bag of 5 kg of onions at the vegetable store "Le Verger Saint Denis" (23 rue Fbg St Denis, 75010 Paris) was only 1.99€. I could not pass this bargain, I love onion, and especially caramelized onion. Our favorite crêperie is "La crêpe Dentelle" (10 rue Léopold Bellan, 75002 Paris) and there, my all time preference is their onion confit crêpe. Onion confit is delicious and easy to make:

Je ne pouvais laisser passer cette occasion, j'adore les oignons et particulièrement les oignons caramélisés. Notre crêperie favorite est "La crêpe dentelle" (10 rue Léopold Bellan, 75002 Paris) et ma préférence va toujours à la crêpe aux oignons confits. L'oignon confit est délicieux et facile à faire :



Ingredients

4 ou 5 oignons jaunes, deux grandes cuillers de beurre, une pincée de sucre, une petite cuiller de sel.

Peel the onions and wash them with water.
Épluchez les oignons et lavez-les à l'eau.

Cut the onions in fine slices with a sharp knife.
Coupez les oignons en tranches fines avec un couteau bien aiguisé.

Melt the 2 tbsp butter in the dutch oven and add finely sliced onion on a high heat.
Faites fondre les deux grandes cuillers de beurre dans une cocotte et ajoutez les oignons émincés à feu vif.

Mix the onions to coat them with butter.
Mélangez les oignons pour les recouvrir de beurre.

Cover the pot and cook for 20 mins in the medium heat. Stir it time to time.
Couvrez la cocotte et laissez cuire 20 minutes à feu doux.

Add a pinch of sugar and 1 tsp of salt and continue cooking. Stir the onions until they turn brown. 
Ajoutez une pincée de sucre et un petite cuiller de sel en laissant cuire. Tournez les oignons jusqu'à ce qu'ils brunissent.

Eat it with meat, crêpes, use it to make an onion pie, ...
Consommez avec de la viande, des crêpes, utilisez pour faire une tarte, ...

Last Saturday I participated in "Le Marais Street Art Polaroid Tour" with Alexis. 
We started at Place de Stravinsky by the Centre Georges Pompidou and walked around in Le Marais. Alexis pointed out many street arts which I was not aware of them before. 

Samedi dernier j'ai participé au "Le Marais Street Art Polaroid Tour" avec Alexis. Nous avons commencé Place de Stravinsky près du Centre Georges Pompidou et nous nous sommes promenés dans le Marais. Alexis nous a fait découvrir de nombreux "street arts" que je n'avais pas remarqués avant.

Comme une française

Géraldine Lepère - my new French teacher

I have been following the video blog of "Comme une Française" for two years now. Géraldine explains the cultural differences between France and other countries, colloquial and formal expressions in French, and many things about French way of life. Everything is very helpful for an expat who is living in France like me.

Je suis le blog vidéo "Comme une Française" depuis maintenant deux ans. Géraldine y explique les différences culturelles entre la France et d'autres pays, les expressions familières et formelles en Français et de nombreuses choses sur la "vie à la Française". Tout y est très utile pour une expatriée vivant en France comme moi.

Recently Géraldine started a new online class "French vocabulary and pronounciation" which interested me immediately. I have been living in France for a long time but the French pronounciation is still difficult for me, so I registered in her class.

She explains the colloquial French and slangs with the formal vocabulary, it is really helpful to understand and improve colloquial French. Thank you Géraldine for this unique class, I enjoy it very much. I highly recommend it to those who want to understand and speak French like a native French.

For the moment, Géraldine has closed the registration for "French vocabulary and pronounciation", but I recommend to get on her mailing list and she will let us know when will be the next registration for this class.

I will be speaking French "Comme une française" very soon!

Récemment Géraldine a commencé un nouveau cours en ligne "Vocabulaire Français et prononciation" qui m'a tout de suite intéressé. Je vis en France depuis longtemps mais la prononciation du Français m'est toujours difficile, donc je me suis inscrite à son cours.

Elle y explique le Français familier et l'argot avec un vocabulaire formel, c'est très utile pour comprendre et progresser en Français courant. Merci Géraldine pour ce cours unique que j'apprécie beaucoup, je le recommande à tous ceux qui veulent comprendre et parler le Français comme un véritable Français.

Géraldine a clos les inscriptions à ce cours pour l'instant mais je vous recommande de vous inscrire à sa mailing liste, elle vous fera savoir quand auront lieu les prochaines inscriptions.
